Brugbart can be translated into "Useful", the site is aimed at web developers, or web designers. With Tutorials and References, occasionally Articles, mainly focused at Markup, and programming.

The site started out with the Danish version, as a learning exercise to me, which finally gave me the idea to name the site "Learn By Doing", both the danish and the english site are now based on the same source code, which is entirely developed by me (Jacob Kristensen).

Projects

Brugbart have several projects running, one of which is brugbart.dk (The danish version of brugbart.com).

LBD_Guestbook is my GuestBook Script, currently being Alpha/beta tested before, i decide how it should be made available. Other projects/features are planned as well, including LBD_Forum, and LBD_CMS. All projects are based on w3c standards.

Who's behind all this?

As of the writing of this, Brugbart is developed and maintained entirely by BlueBoden - Jacob Kristensen.

Correctness of Information

The information on Brugbart may not always be entirely correct. Places where errors are likely to occur would include the HTML Reference, since this reference is based on a Strict DTD of HTML4.01.

Attributes might sometimes be listed as allowed in a DTD which doesn't allow them, this is because it is assumed that attributes allowed in the Strict DTD, is also allowed in the Transitional and Frameset DTD.

Feel free to point out any errors as comments to the resource.

FAQ

You can post your questions by mail.

Q: I'm using Internet Explorer 6 (or earlier) and the site is a mess, is there a solution?

A: Brugbart is best viewed in IE7+, Firefox, or safari. Windows 9x users can switch to Opera 9. Note that i won't be able to tell you if future versions of opera will run on windows 9x.

Q: Why doesn't Brugbart work in IE6?

A: It dose, it just wont render the borders correctly, or the Alpha Channel in png images.

Q: So why didn't you use x fix or hack?

A: The majority of users can easily understand why i didn't, and most web-designers will as well. Few have however taken the step, in fear of loosing visitors, or dealing with visitors complaints. So far I've received none.

Q: Can you help me with this problem?

A: I currently provide limited free support, mainly on BWs CMS solutions, but also on other technical subjects. This may change without warning, if i start to get "to much" mail.

Q: Can i/we hire Brugbart Webdesign?

A: Indeed, thats one of the purposes of having this website. I hope to earn enough some day, that i may get entirely rid of the ads on the site. I charge a start-up fee depending on the size of your project, and my own interest. Typically around 50$, after which i require payment when the project is finished, and before the transferring of the finished project.

Some more Information

I don't earn a furtune from running these sites. The revanue from advertisments doesn't even fully cover my hosting costs

I am however actively looking into revanue options, and i hope that i some day may be able to run the sites without any ads.
