Batch Pause Command

Reference on the Pause command in batch programming.

The Batch Pause command is used to pause the program, until the user either exits or presses a key.

The pause command is useful when you are creating batch programs in windows, since such programs will usually just exit instantaneously after executing, otherwise not giving you time to read the result.

The below shows how a batch program is paused, after outputting two newlines and a message with echo.

@echo off
echo This is just an example message.
echo.
echo.
pause
